Analytical Biochemistry & Proteomics Unit

Institut Pasteur de Montevideo and Instituto de Investigaciones Biológicas Clemente Estable

The mission of the Analytical Biochemistry and Proteomics Unit (UByPA) at the Institut Pasteur de Montevideo  is: 1. to perform and support mass spectrometry (MS)-based proteomic research, 2. to provide researchers with training, scientific assistance and access to mass spectrometry and proteomic related technologies, 3. to improve available MS techniques for biomedical research, and 4. to actively contribute to local and regional training and education programs.

Our specific goals are:

  • to provide open access to mass spectrometry and proteomics technologies to local and regional researchers,
  • to pursue biomedical research projects based on mass spectrometry and proteomic,
  • to facilitate collaborative scientific projects with other national and international research groups, supporting a join-effort to seek funding,
  • to provide state-of-the-art laboratory for education of graduate students and researchers in mass spectrometry and proteomics related technologies.
